Forex Paper Trading on Live Market Prices

FX Terminal's paper trading desk executes your orders against the same live forex prices that drive our charts, through our own execution engine. Market and pending orders, stop-loss and take-profit, partial closes, real margin and leverage maths, floating P&L, free margin and stop-out — everything a live account does, with none of the money. Every trade is recorded, so your results become a track record anyone can check.

Paper trading on real, live forex prices

The FX Terminal paper trading desk fills your orders against the same live market prices that drive our charts, streamed from an institutional feed. There is no broker in the loop and no deposit — the execution engine is ours, so an account opens the moment you ask for one.

That matters because most 'demo' accounts are either a broker's marketing funnel or a spreadsheet pretending to be a platform. Here the maths is the real thing: margin is computed from base-currency notional and your leverage, profit and loss are converted through live cross rates into your account currency, and a long is marked against the bid while a short is marked against the ask.

Everything a live account does

Market, limit and stop orders. Stop-loss and take-profit that the engine watches tick by tick and fills at your level, not at the next candle boundary. Partial closes, position modification, working-order management and a full order history.

On the account side: balance, equity, used margin, free margin, margin level, floating P&L, a margin call and an automatic stop-out that liquidates the worst position first rather than the whole book. Overnight financing is charged when the rules of your challenge say so.

Every fill and every close writes an immutable ledger row, so the running balance can always be reconciled against the trades that produced it.

From practice account to competition account

A practice account is yours alone and has no rules beyond the platform's. A challenge account is minted when you enter a competition and carries a frozen snapshot of that challenge's rules — the same starting balance, leverage, instrument list, costs and risk limits every other entrant faces.

Because the engine records both identically, the trades you place while practising and the trades that win you a challenge are the same kind of evidence on your public profile.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a broker account to paper trade on FX Terminal?

No. The execution engine is FX Terminal's own and prices come from our existing live market data feed, so nothing connects to MetaTrader, cTrader or any broker. You need a free FX Terminal account and nothing else.

Are the prices real?

Yes — the same live bid and ask that drive the terminal's charts and watchlist. A challenge can widen the spread or fix it so every entrant faces identical costs, and the ticket always shows the price your order will actually fill at.

How is margin calculated?

From the base-currency notional of the position, converted into your account currency and divided by your leverage. One lot of EUR/USD controls 100,000 euros regardless of where the price is, which is why the calculation uses the base currency rather than the quote.

What happens if I run out of margin?

Below the margin call level the engine stops accepting new orders and warns you. Below the stop-out level it force-closes your worst position, re-measures, and repeats until the account is back above the threshold — the same way a broker would.
